Cool rainy days might not leave you with a lot of time for the outdoor activities, but being indoors can be fun and relaxing. And, what would be better than making a cup of warming tea and relax? Some teas may warm you up more than the others. It's time to get cozy!

1. Mulled tea

What would autumn and winter be without mulled drinks. Unlike mulled wine, you can make mulled tea with or without wine. Both versions are a great autumn warmer that will get you in the mood for the upcoming cold weather. Non-alcoholic mulled tea is easy to make and a great drink for autumn home parties that can be enjoyed by all age groups.

Ingredients

  • 1 litre of water (33 oz)

  • 1-2 cinnamon sticks

  • 1 teaspoon of dried orange peel

  • 7-8 cloves

  • 20-30 grams of sugar

  • 10-15 grams of black tea

Directions

  1. Bring water to a boil.

  2. Steep the tea leaves for 5-10 minutes.

  3. Strain and pour the brew into a medium pan.

  4. Add the rest of ingredients and let it simmer over low heat for about 20 minutes.

  5. Strain and pour into a big pitcher.

  6. Decorate with cinnamon sticks and dried orange slices.

2. Autumn tea

Tired or apple and orange recipes? if you want a true autumn tea, mandarins are a perfect choice. And if you like them, autumn is a really a great season to look forward to. Harvesting starts in the late September, and the best ones are always available throughout autumn and winter. Depending on the preferred taste, you can replace them with tangier tangerines.

Ingredients

  • 4-5 mandarins (or tangerines)

  • Water

  • 1-2 cloves

  • Small cinnamon stick

  • 1 teaspoon of black tea

  • Honey (optional)

Directions

  1. Squeeze the juice from mandarins.

  2. Add juice to a saucepan and add the equal amount of water.

  3. Add spices.

  4. Bring to a boil over low-medium fire.

  5. Remove from the heat.

  6. Add the tea leaves and steep for 5-10 minutes.

  7. Strain and pour into a cup.

  8. Add honey if needed.

3. Orange ginger black tea

Sweet oranges, spicy ginger and strong citrusy tea and a perfect book. Can it get any better? Instead of making a regular ginger lemon tea, opt for sweet oranges and choose Earl Grey with a citrusy bergamot. In this recipe, ginger adds just enough heat to start autumn in the right way.

Ingredients

  • 3-4 big oranges

  • 100 ml of water

  • 1 teaspoon of Earl Grey tea

  • ½ - 1 inch of fresh ginger

  • Honey (optional)

Directions

  1. Squeeze the juice from oranges.

  2. Add fresh ginger and orange juice into a saucepan and bring to a boil over low-medium heat.

  3. Strain to remove the pulp and pieces of ginger.

  4. Pour into a mug.

  5. In a kettle, bring water to a boil and brew Earl Grey for 5 minutes.

  6. Mix with orange and ginger brew.

  7. Add honey or other sweetener.

4. Hot fruit tea

Warming, sweet and irresistible, hot fruit tea is the “real” fruits tea mixed with black tea leaves. Result? Intense, fruity drink that you’ll want to enjoy slowly and often. As every teapot is different, you may need to adjust the amount of fruits in this recipe to fill the whole teapot. If you want to adjust the strength of black tea, use 2 tea bags instead of loose leaf tea, or place the loose leaf tea into cotton tea bags.

Ingredients

  • One teapot 250-500 ml

  • 1-2 Apple

  • 5-10 Plums

  • 1-2 Orange

  • 1 Cinnamon stick

  • 50-200 ml of orange juice

  • 1-2 Lemon

  • 5 grams of loose leaf black tea

Directions

  1. Wash and cut all fruits into small pieces and place them into a teapot. Use more or less fruit, depending on the desired intensity. You will get the most intense flavor with filling the whole teapot.

  2. Bring water to a boil.

  3. Add cinnamon stick, orange juice and tea leaves.

  4. Steep for 10 minutes and pour into cups.

The goal is to make a delicious drink in no time. We used the whole cow’s milk, but feel free to replace it with creamy cashew or almond milk.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of whole milk

  • ½ teaspoon of Pumpkin pie spice

  • 1 spoon of honey

  • 2 teaspoons of black tea

Directions

  1. Add milk, pumpkin piece spice and tea leaves into a saucepan.

  2. Cook over low-medium fire for about 10 minutes.

  3. Strain and add honey or sugar.
