Creating Mindful Moments
Creating Mindful Moments
We don’t need to be told yet again how unprecedented and crazy this past year has been. It’s been a challenge to say the least. With so much uncertainty, it can be difficult to get take a moment to breathe and get some perspective.
Since the pandemic, we’ve found refuge from the chaos in moments of mindfulness. Specifically journaling. Reflection allows you to acknowledge your experiences and in turn calm your mind. As we’ve learned, this is crucial for wellbeing.
Go ahead and grab a journal and a cup of tea. Below are some prompts to start reflecting on the past year.
1. What new challenges did you face during the pandemic?
Think about the experiences that pushed you out of your comfort zone
2. What emotions have you felt over the last year?
When thinking about this question, consider both the positive and negative feelings you’ve had
Remember to breathe and sip your tea as you dig up these emotions so as to not feel overwhelmed
3. What challenges were you able to overcome during the pandemic?
Think about the successes you achieved despite everything that was happening, write down as many as you can
This serves as a reminder that even through tough times, there are victories to celebrate
We cannot control the circumstances around us, but we can control our reactions. Taking time to reflect can help us realise that we can use negative experiences as opportunities for growth.
If you want to continue to journal, our favourite tip is to turn it into an experience you look forward to. Light a candle, brew your favourite tea and play some music.
