MICROPLASTICS - What's the issue?
MICROPLASTICS: What’s the issue?
Microplastics have come to be a huge issue within our world. These are pieces of a multitude of plastic containing items that are produced worldwide that can cause great harm. Plastics that end up scattered globally, with a large majority being in oceans become broken down and turn in what we call microplastics. These microplastics flow place to place, creating potential health effects for wildlife and in turn, getting into our food and water as well.
Some may say that these risks are minimal and being investigated but like other issues, say COVID19, the actions needed to take to prevent harmful events are neglected. These microplastics are becoming more and more studied as the reality of how many of these tiny pieces there are, has become increasingly evident.
OUR IMPACT
At NEMI Teas, we have completely gotten rid of our plastic use. Using an entirely biodegradable and environmentally friendly product created by NASA corporation called NeoSoilon. Through steps taken like our own, we have eliminated the risks of microplastics. Sustainability is one of the primary goals here at NEMI Teas, where our impact goes above and beyond others in the industry.
Through not using plastics, we are able to do our part in preventing a potential outbreak in these microplastics and having a much safer product for consumers.
Polypropylene, the main ingredient in plastic is used to seal 96% of tea bags in the UK. Making up about 25% of the tea bag, there is a lot of health concerns that may come with that. Plastic is very commonly used within tea manufactures containers as well, creating risks of getting in our environment without upcycling.
We at NEMI Teas use ZERO plastic within any of our product, creating a health advantage way above competitors. Our containers are biodegradable and environmentally friendly with lots of other uses after you’re done with the Tea.
