Spicy Chai French Toast

An all-time classic with a sweet-spicy NEMI kick!

What better way to start the day than with a scrumptious mix of fluffy, sweet toast topped with your favourite fresh fruit toppings?

The ultimate breakfast or brunch spread, our French toast recipe will blow your socks off.

Ingredients

  • 40ml NEMI Spicy Chai Syrup

  • ½ cup whole milk

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 tbls sugar

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • 6 one-inch thick slices of bread (preferably several days old)

  • 4 ½ tablespoons unsalted butter

  • Maple syrup, to taste

  • Fresh fruit of your choice for toppings

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 200C.

  2. Whisk together Spicy Chair Syrup, milk, eggs, sugar and salt in a bowl. Pour into a sheet pan, then add bread and soak until bread has absorbed liquid.

  3. Heat 1 ½ tbls butter in a pan over medium-heat.

  4. Transfer bread slices to pan and cook, turning once, until slightly puffed and golden brown. Place on a large baking sheet. Repeat this process until all slices have been seared adding 1 ½ tbls butter between batches.

  5. Finish in the oven until golden brown and firm to the touch (about 8 minutes)

  6. Serve and enjoy!
